Nutrition

My Journey

Having climbed and pushed my body hard for most of my life, I have always been interested in the dynamic that nutrition plays in athletic endeavours. What we eat forms the fuel for energy and building blocks for recovery and adaptation from our efforts. It took me a while to realise that only though effective training AND nutrition was it possible to really maximise adaptation and to find out where our physical limits lie.

Over the years I have worked Performance Dietician Rebecca Dent on my own nutrition and it was through this work I was able to understand, from the athlete perspective, how different foods and nutritional strategies could help me to get the most out of my body. From giving myself the right fuel for performance and foods for recovery, to finding that body composition sweet spot, it was a steep learning curve!

In 2017/18 I decided I wanted to learn more…on Rebecca’s recommendation I enrolled in MacNutrition Universal, an evidence-based nutrition course run by Martin MacDonald and his excellent team of staff.

Fast forward to 2019 and I have qualified as an MNU certified Nutritionist.

The course was fascinating, challenging and inspiring. I loved every minute and I am really excited to continue to learn more as I work with people to help them maximise their nutrition.

If you want to learn more about how changes to your nutrition could help your climbing, please feel free to get in touch. I have a variety of options available, from one-off sessions to more detailed plans and longer term support.
